Issues casting CNN app to Chromecast

Question4castin

I am unable to cast to my Chromecast from my CNN app. It worked until about a week ago, and now the cast button is missing. I’ve tried resetting my devices, reinstalling the app, and clearing the cache. It worked for years before that. Any ideas?

I've been having the same issue.. did cnn turn  off the casting?

I have the same issue too and did the exact same things you did without solving the problem. The app also looks a  little different on the top. Saying TV channels.

Ditto here.  Looks like the advent of CNN+ caused the change to casting options.  If you use the AirPlay (concentric circles on a triangle tip) you can get it to stream on AppleTV or VISIO with built-in AirPlay.  But the reliability is nowhere nearly as good as it was with the Chromecast option.  I can't find any CNN policy change that talks about this, so hopefully they will get around to including the Chromecast icon.

it's not just casting! I can't mirror to my tv using the app either?! It just spins so there are many issues with this new app, not to mention the cnn app is even offered on new Samsung tv's, they have slot to fix!

I reached out to CNN Support, here is what they said:

As of now, Chromecast is not supported by CNN+. Stay tuned as we expand our supported devices. You can visit this link for more updates and information https://help.cnn.com.

If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to us.

Luckily on my Android phone, I can go to settings..enable Bluetooth..then cast my screen onto my own TV. Unfortunately, although I can see CNN live, I forfeit my ability to minimize and do other things..thus locking me into the exclusive event. Until CNN upgrades the app..this is the status quo they have imposed on their viewers.

Same with me.  I think the launch of CNN+ dropped the cromecast option. Now only Apple play. It sucks!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for posting. I appreciate you sharing the info here about the missing cast button for CNN+. Since the issue is isolated with CNN+, I'd suggest you reach out to them from time to time to check if there's an update regarding this so you can keep on the track if there are changes in their app's settings.

Thanks,

Jennifer

I assume - as others do - that the new app or CNN+ TV FUNCTION DOESN'T YET - or won’t have Chromecast icon/ casting ability. I guess we should all write them

Hi KptnR,

Yes, please reach out to the app developer so they can take a look on this feature in their end.

Thanks,

Jennifer

So CNN just updated their app AGAIN  to reflect CNN plus's being cancelled STILL no chromecast! WHY?!?!

I noticed that the live TV channel launch buttons reverted back to a previous design, but still no Chromecast icon. I find the Airplay version of casting TERRIBLE.  It flakes out, stopping for no reason.

May I suggest the NBC app. I was accustomed to using both apps before the CNN+ meltdown, but now I don't really miss CNN.

The whole point is that people want to watch CNN, not NBC.

The problem started with version 7 of the app.  If you can find the 6.18.4 APK file and install it, the Chromecast option will work again.  Apkmirror.com

Hi folks,

It's been a while since this thread was last updated or had any recent activity so I'll go ahead and lock this thread. Feel free to create a new one should you need help in the future.

For more help with the CNN+ app, please reach out to the app developer.
