Issues connecting Chromecast to new wifi network

We set up a new wifi connection at home and was trying to update the Chromecast to the new network and accidentally deleted the device from our Google home account. I think the Chromecast is still connecting to the old network, how can I update it to the new one?

did you figure it out? Same issue here, I see no responses. Google home on my phone wont connect it to my new wifi. Very strange, every computer and app in the world can see it and connect to it except Google home!

Hey there Yoholo60,

That's not good to hear. What kind of phone are you using? Sometimes, there needs to be certain settings that need to be activated/deactivated for Google Home to detect other devices on the network properly. I would also follow the steps listed in this article to see if they resolve the issue.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Best regards,

Jeran

Hey there Jaspa81,

I apologize for the late response on this thread, and thank you for being patient! The easiest option would be to factory reset the Chromecast device, as this would clear out the old data from the Chromecast. From there, you can re-set the device back up again with your new Wi-Fi network.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Do you have steps I can follow to do a factory reset without the original network? All the information I have been able to find indicates I need the original network in order to complete a factory reset

Hey Jaspa81,

Of course!  While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast. The LED should begin to blink orange/yellow. When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast should then factory reset.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Jeran
