Missing display

Nikhilgedam

I have 2nd generation chromecast. While trying to power up (after reset), the TV display (its not an android TV but it's a LED TV), shows chromecast and then G, however thereafter, the screen goes blank. Whenever I cast, (since it was connected in the past to the same router, it has still picked the same setting), the TV is able to emit sound but display is blank.

The app shows its casting. I can hear sound very clearly by the display is missing. There's nothing wrong with my TV since it is able to display my cable TV and rest of the channels on the set top box.

What do I do to get the display.? Please help and advise.

Hi Nikhilgedam,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast device. Let's sort this out.

A few questions: how far is the Chromecast from the router? How far are you from the TV when you try to cast? Has there been any changes in the router settings?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Check if the Chromecast firmware is updated.
  2. Make sure the mobile device you're using for casting has an updated OS version.
  3. Check proximity of TV to casting device (phone, tablet, or computer), and Wi-Fi router.
  4. Reboot the Chromecast, casting device, and router.
  5. Disconnect and reconnect the mobile device from the Wi-Fi network.
  6. Check if your device or laptop has a power saving setting. If it's enabled, disable it.
  7. Plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
  8. Plug in the Chromecast into a different TV screen, if possible.
  9. Do another factory reset on your Chromecast.

Thanks,

Jennifer
