We just bought a new chromecast and no matter what settings we try we cannot get any audio.
It is connected to a pioneer receiver hdmi and the sound setup on the tv is the same as other devices that have no audio issues (ps5, switch, etc).
we do notice on the google home mobile app the audio says “muted” and when trying to increase the volume in the app it immediately goes back to 0 on its own. The volume control with the remote does properly increase and decrease volume on the receiver however, there just isn’t any sound on any app in chromecast.

Does the audio work if you connect it directly to your TV, instead of to your receiver?

It’s not particularly easy to plug into the tv directly since it’s mounted. I think it’s safe to assume that directly in the tv the audio would work though.

Hi there,
Thanks for the details. If that’s the case, it can be narrowed down to HDMI connectivity. We still need to make sure, though. If it’s possible, could you try it on another TV? Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Kimy
