While i'm new to this place, it's a bit hard to troubleshoot when you provide zero info surrounding your no sound issue. Is your CC connected direct to the TV or through a receiver? Is it when casting a specific app or casting from any app? Is it just from casting an app, or does mirroring from your phone give the same no sound issue?
That said, the new Chromecast w/Google TV is cheap along with the Tivo Stream 4k and a few other newer devices that would be better supported, faster and more reliable. And with that, later gen chromecasts should be extremely cheap with faster harder and more capability so you can retire your 1st gen CC. Just throwing it out there.
