Removing unwanted devices from the Chromecast device list

dburkhalter

We have a Vizio smart TV that recently had the motherboard replaced (related to issues with casting to the television).  Since the motherboard has been replaced the list of available devices in the Chromecast shows two devices now for the same television.  I'm assuming this has something to do with a cached MAC list that Chrome is holding on to, but I was wondering if there is any way to manually remove old or duplicate devices from the device list.

Thank you for your help.

Hey there dburkhalter,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for your patience! Were you able to remove that duplicate Chromecast? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I know having two of the same device listed would be annoying. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • Do you see duplicate devices in the Google Home app?
  • Have you removed and re-added the Chromecast in Google Home?
  • Have you cleared the cached data and cookies from Google Chrome?
  • Do other devices, such as a phone or tablet, see duplicate Chromecast devices?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
