Restoring factory settings in Chrome cast

Hello ! How do I do this ?
I have a new router / new wifi password and am trying to connect to chromecast - I’ve tried everything. Should I connect to my home wifi ? I’ve seen some guidance saying the device chromecast - should show up on list of available networks……….I’m slowly going mad 😀

Hi all,

If your Chromecast is still connected to an existing Wi-Fi network, you can follow these steps to change the Wi-Fi network it is connected to.

If you've already changed to a different Wi-Fi network, try these steps:
  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top left, tap Add + > Set up device + > New device > set up new devices in your home.
  3. Follow the in-app steps.
If these steps above don’t solve the issue, you’ll need to factory reset your Chromecast, then then set it up again using your new Wi-Fi network and password. If you're using Chromecast with Google TV, follow these setup steps instead.

Instead of factory resetting your Chromecast, if you're comfortable changing your router settings, you can change your new Wi-Fi network name and password in your router's settings to be the same as the previous ones. Your device should then automatically connect to the Wi-Fi.

You have a fellow traveler😩. I have been successfully using Google chromecast for several years casting content from my android and ios devices to my Sharp TV. Of late I have added  another wifi provider at home. I am unable to set the chromecast device to the new wifi. Frustrating to say the least esp on weekends!!

SP21 thanks for your reply . We have the same problem! 🥲I gave up yesterday but will try again today - it’s like I’m caught in a loop. The chromecast device is detected but it  seems to be remembering the old network . If I find a solution I’ll let you know .
