chromecast sound only on tv and not on stereo

There is only sound from the tv while casting and not the stereo which is connected to the tv. can it be a chromecast device issue or a tv issue?

That sounds like a TV issue.

The Chromecast, like your other devices attached to your TV, push the sound the the TV and the TV decides where it wants to play the sound.  Most TVs let you set that on an input port basis.  That would explain why it works for something like your Cable box on Port 1 but not your Chromecast device on Port 2.  You need to tell your TV to push the sound from Port 2 to your stereo just like it's set to pus the sound from Port 1.
