problem with Chromecast (exits to wallpaper screen after casting)

My Chromecast Gen 3 has this issue that anytime I cast from my phone (or through the Chrome browser) it doesn't work the first time around, shows me the casting screen (Youtube, Netflix etc.) and then boots back to the ambient stand-by screen. But then when I try again it usually works. Please assist.

I've tried factory resetting the device, resetting my wi-fi, reinstalling the Home app, changing the battery mode of the Home app to Unrestricted. My device was already exchanged after having similar issue with the old one (RMA65901268)

Hey there ginozump,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine that issue gets to be pretty annoying. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
  • Does this issue occur with every device you cast from?
  • Does this issue occur when the Chromecast is plugged into a different TV?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Jeran
