Anyone have any luck switching a Nest Display from Gemini back to the old assistant?

I read some disturbing information: 

"Once the Nest display is switched to the Gemini for Home voice assistant, it cannot be officially switched back to the original Google Assistant. Google implemented the Gemini integration as a permanent update for home devices once accepted."

In my humble opinion... it sucks... and I want to switch back.  When I switched I don't believe I was warned that I could not switch back.  Has anyone had any luck or know of a work around to get the old assistant back?

I've heard about the creating a whole new house and starting over, but that ain't happening. 

Would appreciate any assistance or information.  Thanks very much.

To my knowledge, there is no workaround, once a device is switched to Gemini it cannot switch back.
