I believe this topic has been brought up, but it needs to be brought up again.
When Google home changed, ALL of my routines became "Personal" routines. I need to be able to change these to "Household" routines, for TWO reasons...
1) So that others can use the routines
2) So that the routines can be added to the Pixel Home Favorites list which will only see "Household" routines.
And no, I will not take all the time required to recreate all of my perfectly working routines when a simple toggle switch or drag and drop can be implemented to change the routines to the "Household" category.
Just one of the problems I'm having with the new Pixel tablet and dock. Don't get me started that some of my routines will not work when the tablet is locked.
What a PITFA. FIX IT!!!!! (please).

I would like to add my voice to this issue as well. I have probably a dozen routines and close to 40 devices in my home. Recreating all those routines with all those devices would be an onerous amount of effort.
07-31-2023 03:52 AM
Is this for real? Hasn't been fixed yet? This is insane! I need these routines to be used by all my family!

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out. I totally understand that this is a good feature. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — I'd suggest you submit feedback about it; here's how. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page for any updates.
Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns, as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I don't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread, and we'll be happy to help.
Regards,
Juni

To deliver best experience how about you send instructions on doing this move from personal to household. That would help if you made this work for everyone.
08-03-2023 01:52 PM
Hi TexiCaliGreg,
Understood. This feature is not supported. We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. Don’t forget to submit a feedback using the link provided in this thread.
Cheers,
Juni

The same BS form message isn't helping anyone and we clearly don't want this issue to fall on an endless list of feature requests that will never be addressed. Fix the **bleep** problem.
My new Pixel dock is USELESS for several reasons this is just ONE!

its the same scripted response to every single issue. They are obviously AI bots as human beings wouldnt be so useless. "Submit feedback, thanks". Just get on with it man, your products are garbage.
12-15-2023 07:59 AM
Hey, I got an idea Juni
Why don't YOU submit the feedback on behalf of the "community". Then advocate for it.
Otherwise what good are you? Is your job just to get online and get beat up by users?
Take some iniative
08-04-2024 04:09 AM
I can't believe this is still an issue. A drag and drop from personal to household. Unbelievable. Do you like to mock your users?
08-12-2024 01:01 PM
Why the hell would Google implement this without the ability change the routine type. Sometimes Google is so clueless.
Monday
Purely, entirely, completely, 100% unhelpful, Juni.

Sorry that you're feeling the wrath of frustrated users, Juni, but if there was a way for you to get this issue prioritised, that would be much better. Can you let your superiors know, please? Because on any software project I've worked on, an issue that prevented this much functionality, that took this much effort for users to work around, would be flagged with an extremely high priority.
At the very least, could you point us to something that shows the status of this issue? Has it been looked at? Is there a timeframe? Because unless the code is a complete rat's nest, I just don't see how it could be that complicated to fix!
And I'm afraid that telling us to provide feedback, after all these months, doesn't give me much comfort. There are even more frustrating issues that I've given feedback about over and over again, literally for years, about Google Home's bumbling with devices I've spent thousands of dollars on (mostly blinds), and those haven't been fixed, either. So please, can you cut the Ministry of Love tactics and tell us whether this will get resolved any time soon?
Friends who use the same products as mine, but with Amazon or Apple, don't have this issue, and have better results in general. Amazon and Apple aren't perfect either, but long outstanding Google issues like this, that cause so much frustration so regularly, which Google just doesn't even seem to care about, make changing ecosystems not seem so time-consuming or expensive.
So, please, how about you give us a little feedback, instead of fobbing us onto a feedback system we have no reason to believe even gets monitored?
Thanks.

I have to agree, Google was a choice and an investment for me too. It was stable and reliable, but seems to have never-ending glitches as they try to keep up with Apple and Amazon. Not what we expect from Google, particularly when we pay for the subscription(s) not just the outright purchase for the products.
08-12-2024 01:02 PM
Save your breath. They don't listen and they will do it if/when they **bleep** well please.
08-22-2023 05:44 PM
Hey Juni,
How many Kudos does this need to receive before Google realizes that this is a feature that people really both want, and more importantly, need?
10-06-2023 06:12 PM
I don't think it matters if you lock it within 24 hours. Not the way I was treated...... How about I have some questions gonna find my handshares I'll be in touch
12-16-2023 09:07 PM
Just to make it clear how ridiculous this response is. You cannot even recreate many of the routines to make them household routines because you can't share keywords with built in routines like the "leaving home" routine. So are people just supposed to manually create new household routines while trying to avoid any of the keywords already in use which can't be removed???
04-30-2024 01:14 PM
Are any suggestions ever actually implemented? Why even respond if you aren't going to fix the issue.
So, you have allowed users to create a bunch of routines that others could use and you took that away and your answer is to recreate everyone from scratch. Are you freaking kidding me?
Google used to be a good company. If the service was better we'd pay for it.
Maybe time to go to Alexa...
D
07-08-2024 11:51 AM
So did it ever get fixed?? Is there a simple way to change them? I can't believe this. At least I'm better off then some of these guys. I only have 8 that I really use. I'll change them the hard way
07-08-2024 11:59 AM
No it hasn't, and I've resorted to creating new routines with different keywords. For example I can no longer say goodnight, I have to say it's bedtime.
Monday
Boooo!!
08-05-2024 11:02 AM
Another year down the line…. Still no fix.
Can’t speak for everyone, but I’m definitely now not preferring google products and services, and surprisingly finding Microsoft much more reliable and accessible, but less surprisingly Amazon.
08-04-2023 03:47 AM
Your Tuesday answer was nonsensical, not helpful and obviously a form reply. If you can’t take the time to address the question you should not be in customer service. Your answer and follow-up explanations were both bad.
This is an easy fix and there’s no reason it should not be supported.
08-10-2023 08:20 AM
Same thing here! I'm not aware how difficult could it be to have this simple feature. But in terms of usability it should be high priority...............
04-30-2024 01:15 PM
It shouldn't be difficult at all. It's a switch. It's either a household routine or personal routine. Google, fix it!
08-18-2023 08:27 AM
I have this same problem now and have so many routines perfectly set up. This should be very simple, drag and drop from personal to household. I feel like google makes a lot of changes and then just drops support and updates, I find myself getting closer to ditching google products all together. Things that used to work suddenly don’t, and there’s no fix. Meanwhile you got us all to invest a LOT of money incorporating these products into our homes. Don’t close the thread please, elevate it and flag it for your supervisor.
04-30-2024 01:15 PM
You got it right. They don't consider the customer. Just make changes willy niloy without testing them. I can't imagine what they were thinking on this one.
08-24-2023 05:41 AM
Hate to be a pain, but this is kind of a critical feature in my opinion. I'd say it would be a top priority. Please let us know when it gets done.
08-27-2023 09:19 AM
This is extremely frustrating! My wife keeps complaining that Google won't listen to her. I have around 40 lights and switches in the house and recreating the routines is a pain. I've attempted it, but there's so many conflicts since I can't use the same trigger commands. I don't want to delete my personal routine before creating the household one in case I break my working personal routines. It's hard to keep track of which lights are part of which routine. I would really appreciate it if this issue can be addressed soon.
09-03-2023 12:52 PM
I concur to this issue. Just got frustrated i cannot create a household Bedtime as Bedtime is already in my personal setup. Moving it over from personal to household would help. Seems odd that i cannot even remove it from my personal at all it is grayed out. Should i create now one that says Bedtime2 so it works? Moving it over is better just drag and drop and done…
09-11-2023 08:05 PM
So after months of customer inquiry on this topic we have received one scripted and unhelpful response from GOOGLE product support. Don’t know about anybody else but I think it’s time to take our wallets to another place. We are all so invested in them and they don’t give a **bleep** about us!
09-17-2023 05:15 AM
Amazon Alexa enters the chat.
Seriously though, I've been wondering why my household routine only work for me and not everyone else in the family. I discovered all my household routines are missing scenes for everyone else but me.
It all started when Home got the new update. It broke the household.
09-14-2023 12:27 AM
I have officially given up and put in a return request for my Google dock and tablet.
I cannot change the category of my routines.
I cannot turn on continuous queries.
Some of my routines will not run when in lock mode.
I cannot adjust keyword sensitivity.
And the list goes on.
When Google decides to listen, I may decide to buy again.
04-05-2024 03:00 AM
Let us know the better alternative you move to.
09-16-2023 02:26 AM
This is a NIGHTMARE!!! it’s ruined my whole smart home. What on earth are google doing? Are we all just sitting around waiting for them to fix it?
10-01-2023 04:06 PM
Same problem. This would take someone 15 minutes to address, it’s so basic. We just need to be able to move a routine from personal to household.
Hey Google, Be Better…
10-03-2023 04:12 PM
I have the same problem. Why is duplicating or moving a routine seem so simple yet there is no functionality for it, and I have to manually re-create every single step in every single routine I have.
10-04-2023 05:32 AM
How about on top of that because they added canned routines you can't create your own Home routine to do similar actions. For example, Bedtime is in the Personal Routine section. It's action has "Good night" within it. You can't create a home routine that says "Good night" because it says that action already exists. And you cannot delete the personal routine. So even if I wanted to create that Home routine from scratch, I can't. Does Google have any non-canned responses for that?
Seriously some major overhaul needs done with this coding. This is the most basic of all home automation.
11-10-2023 09:36 AM
EXACTLY THIS! My Household Routine can't be activated with "Good night" because I have a DISABLED Personal Routine that has the "Good night" starter as a default that CANNOT BE DELETED!
So now I have to go into everyone's Google profile just to set up a Good Night routine that has been working perfectly for everyone before this? Also, now I have to create a Google account for everyone just so that they can have a Good Night routine in the house. Pfft.
