Fix Chromecast authentication issues - Fix casting from Android (GUI method)

Hello, I also restored it to factory settings and following the following steps I was able to reconfigure it, I managed to broadcast from the mobile to the TV again, but the image from the mobile is only partially displayed, at least I was able to reconfigure it and now I just have to wait for the update.

If you have restored the factory settings, follow the steps below. If you have not restored it, skip this step and go directly to the process with the free code app.

First of all, you need to change the date on your mobile phone to a day before March 9, 2025. From here you can reconfigure the Chromecast.

Then follow the following steps to be able to broadcast again

Fix casting from Android (GUI method)

• Download and install an activity manager app, like the free and open-source Activity Manager app.
• Launch the app and select Intent Launcher from the dropdown menu in the upper right corner.
• Tap the edit icon next to the Action field and type/paste this: com.google.android.gms.cast.settings.CastSettingsCollapsingDebugAction
  • On Android 11 and below, type/paste this instead: com.google.android.gms.cast.settings.CastSettingsDebugAction
• Leave the other fields blank, and tap the checkmark button in the lower right corner.
• In the Cast Debug settings panel that pops up, scroll down to Connection and enable Bypass Device Auth.

This workaround forces open the Cast Debug settings page and lets you enable the Bypass Device Auth option (i.e., it allows you to turn off device authentication), partially fixing the issue. You should now be able to cast from apps, and the Google Home app should also partially work.

It works now. I did all the steps. It had trouble while connecting with my internet. You forgot to mention to change the date back to the actual one. Not sure if it is something that everyone has to do but it worked in my case.

Chromecast back on now on original settings and removed Bypass Auth button to off... But will keep Application Manager app incase it happens again! Thanks CHC! 👌

Oh my God! Finally, it worked! I just did it! It's been hard because I speak French, but I followed your images and it was pretty easy. Thank you so much! And I didn't even have to change the date on my cell phone! The only thing is that Chromecast works only on my cell phone, not on my computer (PC or laptop). At least, I can watch YouTube on my TV by casting it from my phone. It worked with the link someone sent me earlier, because yours didn't work for me. But all your images are exactly what I saw on my device. I'm so happy! I missed my Chromecast a lot since last Sunday! Thank you! 🙂

Realmente escapa a mis posibilidades tecnicas, trato de hacer lo que indican pero nada sale como tiene que salir, activity manager me pide abrir una cuenta en ingles, yo no entiendo ingles y el traductor no lo toma, es realmente muy complicado todo. Porque no pensaran en personas normales sin demasiados conocimientos del tema. Piden verificaciones a cada instante , codigos, qr, es muy dificil esto

My google Chromecast has been updated automatically in Spain and its working again, without doing anything.

Thanks, It helped me fix the factory reset. It won't let me stream to the TV, but at least it's connected to Wi-Fi again! Now I just have to wait for Google to fix it.

Thank you for this I also fixed the problem ,but differently (gen 2)....I changed the date on my android phone to 7th March , it connected to my factory reset chrome cast,and updated , after a little patience it connected . I had to set date and time back to automatic and then reboot my phone for it to fully work . But touch wood ...so far it's working 

Very happy ,didn't realise I lived this device so much after not being able to use it for a week !!
