If you're experiencing difficulties connecting new Nest Detect devices, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow:

  1. Ensure compatibility: Make sure the Nest Detect devices you're trying to connect are compatible with your Nest Guard. Check the product specifications and compatibility information provided by Nest to confirm compatibility.

  2. Reset the Nest Detect: Perform a factory reset on the Nest Detect device. To do this, remove the battery from the Nest Detect and wait for about 10 seconds before reinserting it. The LED light on the Nest Detect should flash blue, indicating that it has been reset.

  3. Restart your phone: Restart your smartphone or device that you are using to connect the Nest Detect. This can help refresh the connection and resolve any temporary issues.

  4. Check Nest Guard settings: Ensure that the Nest Guard is set up correctly and that the settings allow for adding new devices. In the Nest app, navigate to the Nest Guard settings and verify that the device is online and functioning properly.

  5. Verify Wi-Fi connectivity: Ensure that your Nest Guard and the new Nest Detect devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Check the Wi-Fi settings on both devices and confirm that they are connected properly.

  6. Update Nest app and firmware: Make sure you have the latest version of the Nest app installed on your smartphone or device. Additionally, check for any available firmware updates for both the Nest Guard and Nest Detect devices. Keeping all components up to date can help resolve compatibility issues.

  7. Contact Nest support: If you have followed all the troubleshooting steps and are still unable to connect the new Nest Detect devices, it is advisable to reach out to Nest customer support. They will be able to provide further assistance and guide you through any additional troubleshooting steps specific to your setup.

Remember to consult the Nest support documentation and resources for more detailed instructions tailored to your specific devices and setup.

Thanks for replying.

Nothing I did could get it to work, that day.

The NEXT day, I followed the instructions, as I had the previous day, and it worked fine.

It could have been issues with the Router/Modem having too many new devices added on in 1 day.

It could have been NEST needing time to upgrade all the changes I made to my Home System as I added 5 other devices before trying the Detects.

If anyone else has an issue and sees this, take the time to update your NEST, set security parameters, and then give it a try a few hours later.
