Nest app issue

Nest app has worked for a year but all of a sudden it won't adjust the Nest Learning Thermostat. I have tried resetting it to no avail. I think I've done everything the web site says to do but can't get past entering key code. On the next step It won't accept the serial #.

Try these steps:

  1. Factory reset the thermostat (it's worth doing this again to start afresh).
  2. If you haven’t already, download the Nest app on a phone or tablet.
  3. On the Nest app home screen, tap the Settings cog.
  4. Tap Add product. The app will switch to a camera view to scan the thermostat’s QR code.
  5. On the thermostat, press it to open the quick view menu and tap the Settings cog.
  6. Turn the ring to select Nest app and press to open it.
  7. Select QR code. Your thermostat will show you a unique QR code to scan with the app. If it doesn't, tap Continue without scanning in the app and select Get entry key on your thermostat instead.
  8. Follow the remaining steps in the Nest app.

Thanks for your reply. When I scan the QR code the app says the thermostat is already on my acc. but I can't get any farther. I would like to delete it from my app and start over but can't see where to delete it. You're talking to an intermediate tech person AT BEST.

If you're still getting that error, step 1 cannot have finished properly as a factory reset thermostat will not tell you it's still linked to your account, so perhaps follow those factory reset (not restart) steps one more time?

When I get to the point where I enter the serial #(00Q3) that's as far as it will go. The spinning wheel just keeps spinning.

Are you using the latest version of Android available for your phone and the latest version of the Nest app? If so, try turning your phone off and on again. Be sure the entry key you enter into the app is the same as the one shown on the thermostat display.
