Not able to view nest camera on TV

KatherineRhude

I have a Sony Google TV with a built in chromecast.

When I try to stream my nest camera on the TV it opens a new screen that says "camera feed not available"

I have no issues viewing the camera from my phone.

Any ideas?

I have 2 tvs with Chromecast with Google tv.  One is hard wired by Ethernet. The other is on WIFI. The WIFI tv can stream my Google Nest cameras. The Ethernet tv cannot. So.....your tv must be on wifi to work, Google-Sony-get this limitation fixed please.

I have the same issue with nest gen 2 wired doorbell.
When will this be fixed?

I have 3 installed Google Nest cameras and a Generation 2 Nest Doorbell. All are wired to get constant electricity and do not run off of their batteries. I have two additional unopened Google Nest cameras I am waiting to install in my shop (or I will return for a refund). The cameras stream to my Google Pixel 8 Pro, to my Google Nest Hub Display, to an Amazon Echo Show, to my Chromebooks, but will not stream to the television that has Google TV or to an ONN Streaming Box with Google TV. The cameras start to load when given assistant commands, but shows a screen with a camera under the "not" symbol. This is one of the reasons I bought everything from the Google ecosystem is because it is supposed to just work with everything else with minimal difficulty. It appears I should have went with everything Amazon because I am reading this has been a known issue for well over a year and nothing has been done.

I have a google floodlight with camera, a gen 2 indoor camera, 2 google home minis, and a gen 3 chromecast plugged I to my Panasonic tv.  When I ask google to show either of my cameras on my chromcast, it tells me they are not capable of streaming on a remote device.

It just says "Sorry, it looks like *camera* doesn't support streaming to remote screens" for both of them.

Guess I'm returning this floodlight/cam while I can

I have a similar issue. I have multiple nest cameras throughout my house and all I get is a grey screen with a small camera in the center of the screen with a slash they it. Google Home obviously understands the command but no cameras will display. Is Google just helping here? Seems to be a long standing issue.

Same problème here. We got a Sony 85k and two wired nest cam and we are unable to watch the feed on the TV

Google taking over Nest was a total disaster. I invested so much money into an ecosystem filled with glitches and false promises. I have started moving to Blink and could not be more pleased! On top of being user friendly, the camera and doorbell batteries AA last forever (up to 2 years), and the sync hub (included) locally records and saves my clips. Easy to retrieve, no subscription, and I own them. If you haven't, look into Blink!!

I have a Phillips TV with Chromecast built in and cannot stream any of my 3 cameras. 2 outdoor and 1 doorbell. Work fine on my hubs and my phone but when I ask the TV to stream I get just a grey screen with a camera and a slash thru it like the cameras are offline but they are most definitely not.  Also have Att fiber 1000 up and 1000 down so not a bandwidth issue. No idea why they won't work.

Well, since it's now been over a year and a half, it's not a glitch, it's false advertising. Do we go after Google or the TV manufacturer? Somebody is going to suffer consequences.

Google does not stand behind their products, nor offer decent customer service. I changed to Blink cameras and have been WAY happier. One thing I love is you don't need a subscription to save videos that belong to you! They save to a USB via a sync module that comes with it.  My google garbage is listed on ebay.

Today I took deelivery of a Nestcam and set it up. All on Home devices on the 2.4GHz network.

I can see the camera view on my Pixel 9a phone

I can also see the camera on my Google Home Hub and Pixelbook.

I conclude the camera works.

However I can not see it on my TV through Chromecast.

I can cast the BBC iplayer to the TV

The TV plays the ambient photos if nothing else is required.

From this I conclude Chromecast works.

So why cant I stream/cast the camera to the TV ?
