bn link plug issues without solution

sdiver1973

I am having the same issue as stated before.

I have installed a brand new smart outlet in my home (bn-link).

Both individual slots can have it's own name and even be controlled separately through the  BN-Link app, but Google Home only recognizes one name, labels one “plug” and the other “switch” and activating either option applies to the whole outlet and either turns them both off or on.

I want them to be controlled separately by Google, both app and by voice command through Nest

I am using a droid and have google home version 3.2.1.7 I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times.

I have Alexa on my phone also and it works with that without changing anything. I have the Nest mini in my living room and would like to use that to control the plugs

Hi sdiver1973,

Thanks for posting — let's get this sorted out. Can you rename or change the device type of these plugs in the Google Home app? Do you see them under Other cast/Local devices, or in a room?

Regards,
Alex

I can see 2 devices but they both are names the same one is a switch and the other is a plug. If you rename one the other will change also.

Hello sdiver1973,

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Press and hold one plug > Settings > Device information > Placement. Move it to a new room (for the meantime).
  • Try to rename/change the device type > Give a test command.
  • If the issue persists; try creating a new Home structure for testing.
  • Go back to the original Home > Press and hold the plug > Settings > Device information > Home > Move it to the new Home > Configure the plug information.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
