I believe I need to subscribe to nest aware. Not sure how

We already have a subscription, so I don't remember how we did it.

You could check out the Google Store link here:
https://store.google.com/product/nest_aware?hl=en-US

Or, in the Google Home app, you could try selecting "Set up Nest Aware" or selecting "Nest Aware" under Settings in the Google Nest app.
