Nest cam & Nest aware in unsupported country (Czech Republic)

Hi,

I just bought 3x nest cam in US. I live in Czech Republic i.e. unsupported country. And I have two questions regarding the functionality.

1.  if I bring the cameras from US to Czech will they work ? (I don't  see a reason why not, I checked that some people suggested that EU and US use different bands in 5GHz. However in EU nest cam does not support 5GHz, so I think that for the 2.4GHz it should be ok to use the cameras)
Germany nest cam wifi specification - 802.11b/g/n (2.4 GHz) Wi-Fi
US nest cam wifi specification - 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz/5GHz) Wi-Fi

2. if I sat my home to Germany which is a supported country, can I pay and use the google nest aware subscription or it will be for some reason blocked?

The 5 GHz band is regulated differently around the world. Google Nest products manufactured for use in the US use the 5 GHz channel in a way that is not allowed in the EU. Products manufactured for use in the EU use a different 5 GHz channel.

 This means your EU router will only see the US cameras as 2.4 GHz and not 5 GHz. Since there's substantially more capacity on the 5 GHz band, because it uses wider channels, you do want to be able to use it if at all possible. Strictly speaking, yes it should work and function but you are likely to experience performance problems.

I can't comment on your second question, but I should point out that you're in an unsupported country, as you yourself mentioned, which means you'll have no formal warranty or Google support to call on should something go wrong.

Thanks for the answer, however as I pointed out German nest cam does not have 5 GHz at all so talking about 5 GHz make no sense when comparing these products. I also know the US uses only 11 channels in 2.4 GHz band however the transmission speed I believe will be sufficient as for 802.11n could be around 54Mbit/s  which is more than enough for the video stream

What worries me more is the second question as without the nest aware subscription the cameras are useless for my application......
