Nest doorbell (battery) events not playing

ScottC

Is anyone else having the issue of the terrible event history viewer? I go to my notification and select the event I want to see and it takes me to "no event found" I can go into my full history and see all the events with a small preview video showing the entire clip in like 5fps and skipping frames (as it's a preview) but again as I click to play it, it says no event found. This is happening with nearly 90% of clips and is quite frankly a security issue... I'm astounded to how bad this is considering the amount of money it costs. My battery has also died in less than 2 days. TWO days!? Can I have some clarification to how on earth this is justifiable?

Is any one else experiencing these issues?

Thanks Brad,

I think it has been fixed. I got onto Google support. Tried everything. The last thing we did was a factory reset (not just a restart) of the doorbell and so far so good.

Thanks

No it's not sorted. Same issue. I love Google products but this is a dud.

So to keep you up to date.

I've tried restarting phone, restarting doorbell and router.

Factory reset on doorbell, removing and readding into google home

Wifi speed at the doorbell location is 65mbps download 25 mbps upload.

Do you think it's worth returning and getting a new one? This is not acceptable for such an expensive device.

Thanks for you help

Hey folks,

Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.

You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Thanks Brad,

Yes I understand that. Same end result though...a dud unit.

I appreciate your reply. However, everywhere I look for help I get standard responses. On Google chat I keep getting told the doorbell doesn't record 24/7. I know that. I want it to play the videos that are events and it won't.

Then I get told I can create zones to improve battery. I know that. That's not my issue....again I just want to play event videos.

If I can't play event videos....it's just a doorbell and they are about $20.

Does anyone have this doorbell working properly?

All my issues were fixed with a replacment device. Same settings last device was dropping 30-40% in 24 hours. New one dropping 2-3%(busy household) have yet to come across the recording problem with new device too. Bought mine from Argos originally maybe if you guys did too they had a defective batch?

Thanks @ScottC . I think I'll request a replacement too then
