Set up sound detection on my Google assistant hub

Tlyons

Supposedly, I can set up sound detection for smoke alarms and breaking glass on my Google assistant hooked in with my nest doorbell. However, when I tap on settings and then nest aware, I get a message that no compatible devices are listed. I already attached the nest doorbell to the Google assistant and can find it in the app. Also when clicking on it, I can go to the camera on my Google assistant and turn it on or off, too. So it seems like a “compatible device“ is already there; my Google assistant display camera turns on and off with the Nest app. Any thoughts on how to get this to work?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Let's take a closer look into this.

What type of Google Nest speaker or display(Google Home Mini, Google Nest Hub, etc.) are you using? You can also check this article to see the Requirements to use sound detection to learn more.

Best,

Steve

Steve,

Thanks for replying. I'm now back to try this again. I have the Nest Hub Max and Nest (wired) doorbell and a nest aware subscription. I clicked on the linked you embedded which showed me, again, how to set it up. I'm still in the same place: Settings>Nest Aware> "no compatible devices." I'm usually pretty savvy about this stuff and find myself helping others set things up, but I must be missing something small, I think (I hope). I'd like it to be on the likes of "did you plug it in, duh" haha. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Still does not work. I click on nest aware, then sound detection and all that is there is a description of what it does, nothing more. At least it doesn’t say “no compatible devices,” but there still is nothing to choose.
