Hi,

I'm trying to set up Nest Protect on Home Assistant.

I get this error message:

Access blocked: Nest’s request is invalid

You can’t sign in because Nest sent an invalid request. You can try again later, or contact the developer about this issue. Learn more about this error
If you are a developer of Nest, see error details.
Error 400: invalid_request

Have you used HACs integration? I managed to finally get my two smoke detectors into HA.

Hi everybody,

@johnhedge, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To make sure that we’re on the same page, I’d like to confirm, have you updated your Nest app? Have you tried reinstalling it?  In case your operating system (OS) is outdated, update the OS to the latest version. Let us know if you're already done with these steps. Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate your response, Stewh22.

Regards,

Emerson

Hey johnhedge,

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest account? We would appreciate it if you could share the information I’m asking above. Also, were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks,
Emerson

Hi,

There's nothing wrong with my Nest app. The issue has always been that my Nest Protect smoke alarms are not viewable in Google Home! That was also the case with Home Assistant until Stew came to the rescue.

I continue to find it amazing that products that carry the name Google don't interface with Google Home. That includes my $5000 Sony Google TV!

Regards,

John

Hi johnhedge,

Thanks for getting back to us. We are aware that some of the features of the Nest app are not available in the Google Home app. As of now, Nest Protect can only be controlled to the Nest app and be connected to a 2.4GHz bandwidth. I'd suggest you send feedback using this link to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Best,

Emerson
