Both Nest generation 2 devices disappeared from Google Home and Nest for no reason and I can't get t

I have had two nest protects for several years... Probably 5 years now. 

Suddenly when I went to check on them as part of making sure that my home was up to code, they are completely gone from both Google Home and Nest apps. 

I've read that this nightmare has been happening to other people but I have no solution for this. Why did Google take my products away from me? These are meant to protect me and my home and my family.

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you're experiencing an issue where your Nest Protects are no longer visible in your apps. I'll do my best to help you resolve this.

To help me find the best approach to fix this for you, can you tell me a bit more about what's going on? Like:

  • Have you tried anything to fix it already? If so, what did you try?
  • Just to double-check, could you see if maybe you have more than one "home" set up in your app and you're looking at the right one?
  • Are your Nest Protects the ones that run on batteries, or are they wired into the mains? If you're not sure which you have, you can click on this highlighted text: "How to tell which Nest Protect you have?" and it'll show you how to check!
