Can’t verify voice

 My nest protect is saying it cant verify the voice. I have run tests multiple times, factory reset multiple times and no solution. Please help.

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you’re having trouble with your Nest Protect that is unable to verify your voice. I appreciate all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken and I’m glad to help.

To assist you better, please answer the following questions:

  • What model of Nest Protect do you have? (Here is a helpful article on how to identify the type of Nest Protect).
  • When did the situation start?
  • How many Nest Protect devices do you have in your home?
  • What is the make and model of your mobile phone, and is it running Android or iOS?
  • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest app?

Please keep me posted on your findings.

I have A 2nd generation.

The problem started 2 weeks ago.

I have 1 nest protect

iphone 14 iOS 26

Hi Johnwahl,

 

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate all the detailed information you provided.

Based on your answers, please follow these additional recommendations:

Step 1: Forced update.

If there are any pending updates, you can force them by following these steps:

  1. Press the Nest button once. It should say, "Press to Test."
  2. Press and hold the button until the Protect says, "Checking the network."
  3. The LED ring briefly glows green and then turns off when the process is complete.

Important: Once the process is finished, please check the color of the LED status light.
