Google Nest Protect low battery issue

Trishb

I've had Nest protect for a while now, so when the batteries died, I replaced them. I got another warning within the month to replace again. I then saw that they needed the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. I bought some and put in the new ones...but after a nest check, it said to replace them with Lithium batteries...but they are... After messing around with the alarm longer and just about to through it at a wall...as a last shot, I pressed down on the button until it reset...you know like they say, if indoot, reboot...I then deleted the entire device from my network and reinstalled it, that worked. Showed batteries were fine after that. Just wanted to share that with you all, as this seems to be an issue going round. I hope this helps!

Hello edknight,

Thanks for chiming in. To remove and add back your Nest Protect from the Nest app, just follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Nest app.
  2. If you have another home, on the app home screen, tap Menu in the top left corner. Then select the home that has the product you'd like to remove.
  3. On the app's home screen, tap Settings.
  4. Tap the Nest Protect that you'd like to remove.
  5. Scroll down and select Remove Nest Protect.
  6. You'll then be asked to confirm your choice.
  7. Factory reset your Nest Protect.
  8. Set up Nest Protect with the app.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance
