I cannot add the 2015 Nest Protect 21A4 to my account (firmware version 3.0.0.16). The Nest Protect is new, but is from July 2015. I get an error when it attempts to set up the Nest network. The error is P000 (0.65). I have an IPv6 network with multicast enabled, broadcasting 2.4 Ghz from WiFi access points. I've performed multiple factory resets with the same result. My Android Nest app (on my Pixel 😎 is the most recent version.
I see one user is experiencing the same issue with old Protect firmware and no way to update. (@Kreg0) I suspect I am experiencing the same issue.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello pjmsullivan,
Thank you so much for posting in this community. I’m sorry to hear you can’t add a Nest Protect to your account. Don’t worry; I would be more than pleased to help.
I appreciate your time and effort in completing the troubleshooting steps described in the post. To continue addressing the situation, could you please help me by answering some questions?
What’s the color of the LED status light?
How far is the device from the router?
Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?
Have you tried to pair the Nest Protect with another mobile device?
Could you try to use another home structure to connect this device?
Have you tried to connect the Nest device with a mobile hotspot?
In the meantime, I recommend reviewing this article: Can’t connect Nest Protect to the app or Wi-Fi to get further information.
I'll be looking forward to hearing back.
Best regards,
Daniel
