Can't add Nest Protect to Google Home

Any solution to this since all my devices are on Google Home and it made me set up my new Nest Protect with the Nest app and I don't see a way to add it to Google Home? I only installed the Nest app yesterday so I'm likely already automatically migrated.

Make sure your Home app is updated to the newest 3.32 version.  Make sure to close Home, then go to Home app info, Force close it and clear cache.  Launch Home and go to Settings and under Devices, groups & rooms make sure you see the Protects.  If you use the Favorites you will need to click on edit and ensure the protects are checked off.

Hi Ascg,

Thanks for reaching out to the community.

I appreciate your inquiry about adding your new Nest Protect to the Google Home app, and thanks for providing important information such as you already set it up with the Nest app. It is my pleasure to assist you with this concern.

Currently the option to monitor and control the Nest protects is only available in the Google Home app “Public Preview” program.  If you are not under the program you can join it. Please check the following Google Help Center article for instructions: Public Preview for Google Home app.

For more information, you can check out this Google Nest Community article: Introducing new support for smoke & CO and locks in Google Home app Public Preview.

Regarding your migration to a Google account, since you just created your Nest and Google Home account and It's automatically migrated, could you please double check in the Nest app settings that the option "Migrate to a Google Account" is not available? please follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap “Settings.”
    • If "Migrate to a Google Account" doesn’t appear on the screen, then your account has been migrated.
    • If the Nest app is requiring “Migrate to a Google Account,” finish with the account migration following these steps:
      1. Open the Nest app.
      2. Tap “Settings.”
      3. Then select the option “Account” and verify you’ve signed in with the account you want to migrate.
      4. Tap “Migrate to a Google Account.”
      5. The app walks you through account migration.

I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
