I just purchased a home that has 6 Nest Protects. The previous owner told me nothing about them and probably did not even remove them from his account. I just want them to function as detectors for now. 4 of them have a small green power light on. The other 2 do not. I replaced the batteries in one of them today and it seems to work fine but there is still no green power light. Anyone know why? They may not be 2nd Generation. I'm just guessing at that.

Does it show you any light? Like blue?

It showed the blue circle for a while after putting the new batteries in. Is that what you mean? Otherwise there is no light on.

Yes, that's right. I'm guessing you're just about to add those devices to the nest app right? or have you already tried?

Sorry I'm getting back to you days later. I found out that when a Nest Protect is wired, it will show the small green light. If it is a battery one it will not. Two of the Nest Protects that were left are battery ones and the other four are wired. Thanks for your help.

Hi folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thank you for the assistance, @Anonymous.
@Kushyomon, I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything is covered here.
How is your Nest Protects doing now? Still need our help? I did find a helpful article with some steps for troubleshooting the Nest Protect lights and sounds.
Please let me know if that helps.
Best regards,
Mark
