Low Battery alert and hot battery Nest Protect

lbocchio
Community Member

I have 3 battery operated Nest Protect Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors. Today I got a notification from the Nest App that the batteries on one of the detectors were extremely low and shortly the detector started to beep. While removing the batteries, I noticed that one of them was extremely hot and it took a long time to cool down. I found a couple of older threads with a similar problem but couldn't find a definite answer or solution.

I appreciate you reaching out to the Community. I'd be glad to assist you with Nest Protect. However, I require some additional information from you that would be best shared privately.

I'm providing a link to a form that you can fill out so we can investigate this further. Please note that this form is only meant for your use, so do let me know once you've completed it.
