Low Battery chirp silencing

popmonkey

my dog practically had a seizure yesterday when the battery ran out on one of our protect units while we were out for a couple of hours.

given the device sends a notification, Google must provide a way to disable the low battery warning remotely.

Hi @popmonkey,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your Nest Protect battery has been running out while you were away, causing a low battery chirp that is distressing for your dog. This is definitely not the experience I want you or your pets to have. I'm here to provide you with more information about this.

Nest Protect devices are designed to chirp continuously for low battery, and this cannot be silenced remotely through the app or any other option; it will continue until the batteries are physically replaced. The continuous chirping is required for the device to comply with safety regulations. I understand this feature may be useful, considering your needs and the needs of all Nest users. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we appreciate your feedback to continue improving our products and meeting your needs.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Anders

I've left feedback but am not hopeful

I find it ironic that we can silence an actual alarm remotely, but not the low battery chirp.
