Majority of smoke alarms offline

Hi,

I have five smoke alarms, but only one of them is showing as online. One of them was beeping last night (now disabled) but there are no other error messages or alerts. I have no idea whether the system is Gen 1 or Gen 2.

Our WiFi network is working normally.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi there Bilko,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Not having your smoke alarms online can definitely be frustrating. Don't worry though, let's see what's going on.

If you've got a combined network that can provide you with both 2.4 GHz internet speed alongside 5 GHz, your alarms could have disconnected and might have missed an update. Outdated Nest Protects can have trouble staying connected.

I would recommend following this article to factory reset your Nest Protect and try to reconnect it. The process is the same for each generation. Just make sure to remove all of the offline Nest Protects in your Nest app. You can do so by going into Settings > Choose the Nest Protect you want to remove > Remove.

You'll need to remove the offline Nest Protects as there might be a possibility that they will try to communicate with each other for the pairing process, but since they're offline, it won't work.

Let me know if you're able to pair them again.

Regards,

Angel.
