Nest Protect; No Mobile Notifications for Alarms

Rex4235

I have 3, Gen 2 Protects and not only am I not getting mobile alerts for alarm events. I dont even have the option (in the Next app) to turn them on like the manual says I should in Nest App>Settings>Notifications>Protect. The ONLY option I have is to turn on/ off Sound Check notifications and even when on, I dont get those recaps either.

My Nest account is migrated to Google services though I wouldnt think that matters.

I have the same issue and have not been able to resolve it after hours of troubleshooting. I've tried everything recommended. Thank you for re-opening this issue. There are two other threads for this marked as "resolved" when people are clearly saying the issue has not been resolved.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I understand you are experiencing some issues with some notification alarms with your Nest Protect 2nd generation. At this time, you will receive notifications if the Nest Protect detects smoke or if there is a danger.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.

My nest protect sounded the smoke alarm on Friday while I was present in the home and I did not receive a notification.

Hi @countd,

Thank you for your timely answer and detailed information. In this case, you can try the following troubleshooting:

  • Press and hold your Protect’s button. It will chime and glow blue. Continue holding the button down.
  • Release the button when your Protect starts to say its version number.
  • Your Protect will start a verbal countdown and tell you it’s erasing all your settings.
  • To cancel the factory reset, press Protect’s button again during the countdown.
  • After a few seconds, your Protect will reset to its factory default settings. You can then go through setup with the app and add it to an account again.

Check out this article: Reset Nest Protect and erase all settings.

Please keep me posted and let me know how it goes.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.

I performed a factory reset about two weeks ago, ensured the nest protect was properly connected to my WiFi, and it did not resolve the issue.
