Nest Protect QR Code Invalid

I have 6 Nest Protects. 4 of them are connected and show up in the Google Home app.  The other two do not show up.  I reset them and tried to add them as a new device.  When I try to scan the QR code, I get an error code saying it's not valid.  There is an option to enter a PIN, but there are no numbers on the back that don't include letters.

The second issue is that I have 3 different "Homes".  One is labeled - "Home," "Home Nest Protect," and "My City name,".  These 2 Nest Protects still appear under Home Nest Protect, but I cannot delete them. They still show up even though I reset the two Nest Protects.

I cannot figure out how to get rid of these other two homes that I am not using.  Hopefully, this is not too confusing.

Hi @Blackhawkmomma,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I'm sorry to hear you're running into an issue with your Nest Protects not showing as connected in the Google Home app. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've already performed. I'm glad to help you further troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

To clarify, the Nest Protect must first be set up and configured within the Nest app. Once your devices are properly set up and connected in the Nest app, they will automatically appear in the Google Home app.

To properly add your Nest Protect back to the Nest app, please follow these sequential steps for each device:

  • Remove your devices from the Nest app.
    • Open the Nest app.
    • Go to Settings (usually the gear icon).
    • Select the specific Nest Protect.
    • Scroll down and select Remove device (or Remove Nest Protect).
  • Remove the batteries from the Nest Protect.
  • Factory reset your devices.
  • Set up Nest Protect with the Nest app.

Please let me know the results after you have completed these steps.

Regards,

Gabriela
