Nest Protect Setup Issues

DM404NEST

Hi there.

I tried to setup my Nest Protect today but it didn't appear as a device in my Nest App.

When I tried to Factory Reset the device and set it up, it showed the original setup Nest Protect first- which now is not linked to the device.

Not sure how to resolve? Any guidance will be helpful

Hi @DM404NEST,

Thank you for posting in the community. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing inconveniences while setting up your Nest Protect. I'm happy to help.

In order to determine the reason why you're experiencing this, please provide the information requested below:

  • Has the device been paired before?
  • What model of Nest Protect do you have?
  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device in the Nest app?
  • What’s the color of the LED status light on your Nest Protect device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?
    • Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Anders

Hey! When it comes to Nest Protect, it's often not recommended to use the factory reset option frequently. Personally, I recommend restarting your modem and phone to clear any cache that might be preventing proper configuration.

Restarting your modem and phone is often a good initial troubleshooting step. This can help clear temporary network glitches or software conflicts on your phone that might interfere with the setup process. It's similar to giving both devices a fresh start to communicate properly. Clearing the cache on your phone can also resolve issues where old data might be causing problems with the Nest app.
