Nest Protect battery overheating

seralat

As with several others I've seen in various threads here, my Nest Protect suddenly reported a low batter condition and started to beep. When I pulled it down to check on it, one of the installed batteries was literally burning hot. I'm very concerned about this as a potential fire hazard, particularly since these were the original batteries and a second unit bought at the same time is still showing the batteries as perfectly fine and battery temperatures seem normal when checked.

The overall lack of responsiveness or support (or even acknowledgement of issues) by Google of these LIFE SAFETY devices shows neglect and reckless disregard and has successfully eroded customer trust.

I think our best bet as a customer base is to make these problems known outside Google, so a trend can be established. Could you please take a moment to report this issue to the Consumer Product Safety Commission at: https://www.saferproducts.gov/IncidentReporting
