Nest Protect way too sensitive

Is there a way to lower the sensitivity of the protect? I have the steam sensor turned on, but even there tiniest bit of steam sets it off. I'm having to silence it badly every day for just existing.

Hi JakeC,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

Since it appears to be environmental, can you try to move the Nest Protect to another location? Also, like any smoke alarm, dust buildup on the outside or inside of Nest Protect can prevent it from working properly. Therefore, as a part of standard ongoing maintenance, you may need to thoroughly clean the outside and inside of your Nest Protect and perform a Safety Checkup on your smoke alarm. Then let me know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe

Yall are like, super interested in locking topics. It's almost like you have persistent issues that you don't want people to continue discussions on ... hmmm.

Anyways. I can't move them, not that it would make a difference. After about 20ft from the potential "source" that would cause them to activate, I feel like it doesn't matter.

I am going to try cleaning them, but we will see. The other night they went off every 45 minutes. In the night. There was no steam, no cooking, no smoke, no nothing. So they are activating off of something. General air quality perhaps?

Hi folks,

I know it's been a while now. How's your Nest Protect after you clean them? Were you able to perform a safety checkup? Please let us know how it goes.

I appreciate the input, Zoe.

Kind regards,

Jenelyn
