Nest protect - Energiser Lithium Batteries became very hot

One of my Nest Protect's gave low battery warning, I went to check the batteries after a few minutes and nearly burnt my hand due to 2 of the set of batteries been very hot. I have removed them into the back garden for safety.

I have noted some older closed conversations on here with similar problems. Whats going on? Should I remove the batteries from my other two Protect's for safety?

Hi @pmx,

Thanks for posting in the community. I understand that one of your Nest Protects gave you a low battery warning and that after checking them, the batteries nearly burned your hand because they were hot. I know this situation is concerning, especially since you have other Nest Protects and want to remove their batteries as well to avoid any accidents. I appreciate you moving them to your back garden for safety. No worries, I’d be more than glad to help you with this.

For safety, please go ahead and remove the batteries from your other Nest Protects as well while we look into this. To better support you, the team would like to learn more about this situation. When you get a chance, please fill out this form and let us know when you’re finished. We’ll have someone reach out to you via email from there. Please ensure you include the link to this thread and your community username.

Sincerely,
Jonathan

I'll chime in as a community member. This statement is bull. This has been reported to Google hundreds of times, both through support channels, these forums, and several reports on the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Google is very much aware of this hazard and does nothing about it. @pmx after filling that form, definitely be persistant, they'll try to ignore you, but unfortunately they might not be much help.

Edit: typos

Thanks for the reply. Yep they keep asking for more information some of it the same as already provided so delaying a proper response. I will keep battling away!
