Nest protect keeps alarming, no smoke at 2:26 in the AM and then 2:49AM

My whole household was woken twice this morning due to false alarms  The alarm was for smoke in the primary bedroom where we were sleeping. There was no smoke, bugs or dust. I silenced the alarm and as we were trying get back to sleep the alarm sounded again.

I've removed the battery from the Protect that keeps alarming, and at this point may not return it. These are expensive alarms, and I feel like i'd be better served by an old kiddie smoke alarm, not connected.

Not sure really what to do here.  Read through the forum and seems like someone will send a link and some other stuff will happen, and I'll be told there is smoke, dust, bugs or humidity....tired

Same just happened at 3:10am and 3:32am. Very annoyed. Changing humidity levels? Bad Nest Protect software update?

Yeah, this was just in a bedroom. Seems like a faulty unit. No changes here to humidity, dust etc. and then kept going off. No heater or shower or gas appliances. Did you resolve your issue?

Hi sfbaycpa,

Thanks for posting in the Community! Sorry to hear that your Nest Protect is getting unexplained alarms. I completely understand that might be a concern but no worries, help is here! To help me understand the situation better, please provide the following information:

  • Was there any sudden change in humidity right before the alarm went off?
  • How was the event reported?
  • What software version runs on the Nest Protect?
  • Where was the device purchased?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Axel.

Sorry to hear.  Hard to go back to sleep when this happens .  These units seem faulty.

Have you tried giving the nest protect a factory reset?
