Nest protect won't connect to WiFi after 2G upgrade

I have two Nest Protect smoke alarms that no longer connect to WiFi after the we had the 2G Google Fiber upgrade, either manually or through the Nest app.  I know they only work on 2.4GHz. Does Google Fiber 2G support 2.4Ghz WiFi? If so, how can I get them to connect to it. If not, does that mean they're obsolete?

I'm sorry but I thought I had already replied. It must not had gone through.  No, they are not working as designed. They are currently working as conventional smoke detectors. They do detect smoke. They also work with each other inside the property. If you test one then the other will also get tested automatically. However, they will not connect to or with the app. It shows no internet connection.

Hey Dhouse77,

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues with the device not connecting to the Wi-Fi. I am not an expert when it comes to Fiber, but I was able to find an article that could be of help. From what it sounds like, you may need to log into your Wi-Fi settings, and configure the settings for the devices. Please let me know if that helped out.

Best regards,

Jake

I did look at you link. However, I really don't think that solves my issue. That link is just instructions on how to create a new SSID for 5ghz rather than carrying over the same SSID from the original 2.4ghz network. It doesn't really address connecting the Google Nest (2.4ghz) onto the new 5ghz network.
