David, one of my Nest Protects reported a Smoke Emergency at 6am. We all got outside (tired and upset kiddos), then I came back in and silenced the source Protect. No fire, no smoke, no dust, no reason or cause that we can identify whatsoever. We regularly check the Protects (batteries, WiFi, etc.). Does the Protect just make up false alerts for funzies or do we need to consider replacing?

If that keeps happening, I'd try giving it a clean:
Clean your Nest products - Google Nest Help

If the issue persists after that, I'd suggest contacting the Google Nest support team.

  1. Go to Contact Us - Google Nest Help
  2. Select an appropriate product or category, type a brief description of the issue, then click Next.
  3. Click Other, then click Next step.
  4. In the Resources section, click Next step.
  5. Choose to get a phone call, call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
