Gf cooking and the smoke alarm did not go off. My old school detector in the living room and bedroom went off and the nest is in-between the 2. Ideas suggestions..  not happy for the price we pay. Alarm is only 2 weeks old

So…there wasn’t a fire in your home and you’re surprised your expensive device that is made to detect fire didn’t sound an alarm? Have you thought that maybe the Google Home is smart enough to realize that your girlfriend was only cooking and therefore was not an actual fire in your home? Have you thought that your cheap **bleep**ty Fire alarms are made to detect smoke because that’s one sign of fire (there’s no smoke without fire) but they cannot tell the difference between smoke from cooking and smoke from fire however possibly your expensive Google device might have been coded to tell the difference between the two?

No it's not smart enough to distinguish smoke from cooking and smoke from fire and in reality their is no diffrence other than what may be in the partials, not to mention it would not know if it was a kitchen fire that could spread of just bad cooking. You really think any company is going to chance that type of coding anyway. It worked the week before.

Have a look thru these forums a bit.  If you are still in your return period, picking another brand might be a better solution.

Wow tech support surley does suck especially if they do not get their cut and paste answers.  When i pull the unit down and do a live smoke test and if fails to go off for 2min and the app does not work unless i open it, yet the other 2 smoke detectors in my house go off why do you need to know what the temperature inside and outside are, how many lights are on, When did the failure occur, pictures of location. It failed both mounted and in my hand not hard to see that.
