I have 8 nest protect units and have had them for 6 years with no problems. I noticed recently five say "power out" in the app. It looks like this started around 6 weeks ago, which is right around the time we had some power outages during a storm but not sure if related to those. It is not the circuit breaker because all the lights, etc. on those breakers are working fine and other protect units are fine on the same breaker. It is not a wiring issue because they are connected and fine (plus the randomness of 5 units all disconnecting suddenly) I have tried testing it and it tests fine because the battery backup and wifi connection are still good. I tried deleting and reinstalling one of them but it is still giving me the "power out" message.
Any ideas why 5 out of 8 nest protects would give me a power out message?
Any ideas what I can do to get them back?

Hi @tcassutt
That sounds frustrating! Here are a few possibilities why 5 out of your 8 Nest Protects are showing "power out" even though they seem to be functioning normally:
1. Software Glitch:
2. Nest Protect Communication Issue:
3. Hardware Issues (Less Likely):
Additional Tips:
By trying these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the "power out" message on your Nest Protects.
Best,
Brandon.

Hi Brandon,
Thank you very much for reaching out. I made sure both apps were up to date, reset and readded the nest protects, and even redownloaded the apps. I still have the same 5 saying power out, despite being on the same circuits as the other three. I am past the warranty but not end of life so not sure if Nest Support can be of any assistance given they will likely have me do the same steps you had me do. Thank you for trying!
