Reconnecting Nest Protect alarm that was accidentally disconnected from network

I was trying to add a family member without doing enough reading, and scanned a pre-existing alarm in my network to my wife's Nest app on her phone thinking it would recognise it as already in a system. Instead it deleted it from my network. I tried to add it back five times but each time it gives an error code P017. I've tried restarting my home wifi, taking batteries out of the alarm, and restarting my phone. What do I try next? The alarm is working fine and knows its location, just doesn't show on my phone account.
