Reconnecting Nest Smoke detectors

eb075

Hi, I'm hoping someone can assist. I have 2 Nest smoke detectors that I purchased and setup about 12-18 months ago. About 6 months or so ago, I changed my provider and setup a new router for the wifi. I did not think about the smoke detectors at that time. Recently I opened the app & discovered that, whilst still "working" they were no longer connected. Realising what I had forgotten to do, I decided to reconnect them to the new Wifi.

I have been totally unsuccessful. I have taken the batteries out and put back in in an attempt to "reset" them. Having read a recent reply here, I created a new "house". Nothing seems to work. The app scans the QR ok and recognises it, then finds the wifi and says it is setting up, but then always errors out with code P006.

I'm using an iPhone. Can someone please assist? Is there a way to reset these to factory default if that's what is needed.

Thanks,

Barry

Same here!!  I absolutely cannot reconnect the protect to my wifi at all.  I have tried creating a new "house" and even a different wifi network, nothing works!

EDIT:

Actually check the settings of your new router.  I double checked mine, and for some reason "Nest Labs Inc" was blocked.  I removed the block and was able to reconnect the Protect.

Hey folks,

Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.

BashSr, thanks for sharing what you did to resolve your concern — this would be a great help to others who might run into the same experience in the future.

eb075, I appreciate that you've taken the time to try those steps already. You might want to try what BashSr did then observe if you're able to have your Nest Protect get connected to your WiFi network successfully. If to no avail, I suggest that you go through the recommended troubleshooting guide here: https://bit.ly/3nr0cXX You would also see the right steps on how to reset your Nest Protect devices to their default settings on that link.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Melba
