Reset Smoke Detector

I am having trouble setting up my Nest smoke detector. I have several and do not have any issues with the others. I have tried to do a reset, but all that happens is the light will start flashing blue, stop for a few seconds, and then begin flashing blue again until I remove the power. I do not get any audio telling me it will erase the setting. I have tried to do this for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, and tried every combination of pressing the button. 

Any ideas or help

Tell me a little more about what you've seen: 

  • When did you first start running into this issue?
  • What kind of Nest Protect do you have? If you're not sure, no worries! You can check out our help center here: "How to tell which Nest Protect you have."
  • How far away is the Nest smoke detector from your Wi-Fi router?
  • Besides the reset you performed, did you try any other troubleshooting? If yes, what other steps did you try?
