Special Disability Requirements. Before I buy can someone answer a few questions?

So, I have to find a new smoke alarm since my wife, in a panic, tore the last one from the ceiling and tossed the poor screaming thing down the driveway to prevent me from having a seizure.

I get seizures from loud noises, high pitches, and flashing lights.

The main question is can the Nest Protect be set to SPEAK instead of BEEP or TONE?

I like the idea that it turns a light on when walking below it at night, that's very useful, but does it FLASH when it is ALARMING? If so, is this a setting that can be turned off?

Can the volume of the BEEP or FREQUENCY of the TONE be changed if there is no ability for it to SPEAK?

If it can SPEAK, can the volume of this feature be changed?

I think I noticed it can be 120VAC hardwired, does this attach to a normal transition box?

Thanks for your answers.

Robert

The smoke alarm will speak first and let you know that it will go off.
That will give you the time to push the button physically or press silence in the application.
You won't be able to adjust the volume on this, I haven't seen a setting for that.
The light indication slowly pulses red when it goes of so no flashing.
It comes with connections but my electricians did that bit

Thank you for that answer dwaindigital.

Did you notice if it was able to be hardwired (connected directly to 120VAC)?

Also, did you notice any access to any hardware settings - perhaps a volume dial physically on the device?

Third, I also have photophobia [this isn't a 'fear' of light, it means that light physically hurts me and in my case, that pain sets off seizures. The brightness of the red pulses, what would best describe them comparatively.

I do have more questions and was hoping for more community responses. I didn't realize there was a response at all.

Also, One of my disabilities has to do with memory and I do often forget the things I start - ie: a question in a forum, albeit an important one!

Sorry, I didn't see any notifications in my email or in google chrome that there were answers, so I didn't know to check.

There is still the question if it can be hooked up directly to 120VAC.

Also, user dwaindigital mentioned he saw no 'setting' for volume but I was hoping for more community responses - perhaps someone knew of a hardware switch or dial?

Thanks
