Yale lock with x-wave module

I have a Yale lock with Z-Wave module installed.  I am using an AEOTEC smart home hub and Google home as the app with the hope of integrating.  When I try to add the lock to Google home app, it sends me to the Nest app.  Then wants code for NEST Connect or Nest Guard.  Are either of these needed?  Thank you for any assistance.

Two things to note:

1. Nest × Yale Lock must be setup in the Nest app, you can't use the Home app for setup.
2. Nest × Yale Lock requires you to use Nest Connect or a Nest Guard. The lock uses these as a gateway to connect to your Wi-Fi network. It won't work any other way.
