"There was a problem while connecting to the Nest service..."

One of my Nest Protect devices had gone offline so I opened up the Nest app on my iPhone to begin reconnecting the device. I was following the instructions on the app to reconnect the device when without warning the app kicked me out.

I have repeatedly tried to log back in to the app on both my iPhone and iPad multiple times, and I keep receiving the message "There was a problem while connecting to the Nest service. Try again in a few minutes".... This is the same message I've been seeing all evening.

I've checked the Nest Status Page online and apparently everything is operational. I have tried deleting the app and re-installing, and I have tried turning my iPhone and iPad off and on again, but to no avail. I just can't seem to get logged into the Nest app.

I am able to successfully log in to my Nest account on my laptop, but the functionality is limited as I am not able to change any settings or devices on the web version.

Is anyone else having problems accessing the Nest app, and does anyone have any fixes or suggestions?? Many thanks in advance for any help / advice / support!!

I have had the exact same issued and can't figure it out.

Have you managed to find a workaround?

Unfortunately not, I tried contacting Google for support and they just sent me step-by-step instructions for recovering my Google Account, which is not what I’ve got an issue with. So frustrating and don’t know what to do next!

Hi SAllen,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I'm sorry to hear that the Nest App isn't available on your iPhone or iPad. Don't worry, though!

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check App Permissions: On both your iPhone and iPad, go to your device settings and ensure that all necessary permissions are granted for the Nest App.
  2. Update iOS: Make sure your iOS software is up-to-date. This can often resolve compatibility issues.
  3. Free Up Space: If your device's memory is low, it might interfere with app performance. Try freeing up some space by deleting unnecessary files or apps.
  4. Verify Network Connection: A weak or unreliable network can also cause problems. Ensure you have a strong and stable internet connection.

Please let me know how it goes after you follow these instructions.

Sincerely,

Virna
