1st gen Nest manual adjust v App

- Series 1   in place 18 mo on new heat pump
- No problems in scheduling, set up & use while away of custom temp presets so far

Have upcoming need though…

QUESTION: How to fine tune temp IN APP WHILE:

a.) Away from home and; b.) while Nest set on usual  schedules of 24/7 comfort + eco presets

*Want to do a simple boost of temp up to 72 from 66 for an hour or too in the app while not home.

Have done a boost manually on Nest  itself BUT if not home & need to boost in the app, can I do that?

Can find no documentation on this.

Is my only option to create & reschedule a 72degree “Boost” preset & then insert  that for a short period of 1-2 hours of heating?

Or is there a way to SIMPLY turn up heat for an hour or 2 IN the app rather than on Nest itself?

IOW is there an override in the app like what can be done by manually boosting temp on Nest itself?

Have you tried scheduling from the app?

I’ve scheduled many multiple heat/cool programs from the app successfully. Runs 24/7 on schedules. Asking if I can ALSO put a temporary short BOOST on one of the Schedules already in place & working fine. I need to accommodate a 1 time need for more heat by doing that IN the app.

Bottom line : I know it (a boost) can be done by standing at the Nest & raising temp there - that “boosts” output & overlays the schedule that’s in place until it reaches the higher temp that was manually selected. I want to be able to do that while away from home inside the app - since I won’t be home to do it. Problem is,  if that’s possible, I cannot find the place in the app to do it nor info in NEST documentation to show how.

Do you know if/how it can be done?

Hi folks,

I'm sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate the help, @Anonymous.

@Katlee, thank you for taking the time in letting us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

To clarify, could you tell us what type of Nest Thermostat you have? Here's a guide to determining which you have. Also, have you tried the steps in this guide?

Please let me know if that helps.

Best regards,

Mark
