Hello. I have 2 2nd generation google nest learning thermostats are they are each experiencing the same issue. I pulled them off the wall and am attempting to charge them via USB but it’s been over 6 hours and there is no flashing light on either of them. Does this indicate the internal battery is dead?

Is the cable you're using capable of power and not just data transfer? Are you connecting it to mains power and not a computer or mobile device USB port?

The two cables are used for charging so I can only assume they would be adequate for this venture.

I'm assuming the cables work fine to charge other devices?
You're connecting it to mains power and not a computer or mobile device USB port?
You don't see a blinking light on the front of the thermostat at all? That would confirm it's charging.
How old are the thermostats?

I’m not sure of the age. They were installed already when we purchased the home in 2019. It appears they are the 2nd generation however.

Hi Casamas,
Thanks for reaching out to us, and I’m sorry to hear about the situation.
If you can confirm that the cable you’ve used to charge the Nest Learning Thermostat displays is working with your other non-Nest devices and the Nest Learning Thermostat still doesn’t charge, I recommend that you purchase a new thermostat, as this product line has been discontinued an we only have 2-year warranty replacement for Nest Learning Thermostat.
Over the last few years, Nest has launched new models of the Nest thermostat, which have the latest features, functions, and even aesthetics. There are even models adjusted to different lifestyles. Best of all, it should work as well or even better than the old one. Check out the available thermostats we have by clicking this link, or you can check for local stores near your area.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
I appreciate your help, @David_K.
Best,
Zoe
