Hi all!
Hoping this community may be able to help. I have 2 nest thermostats. One upstairs and one downstairs. Upstairs thermostat has 3 nest temp sensors. These sensors were replaced because they simultaneously went out 3 months after purchase. Those "New" sensors still wouldn't connect so, they then replaced the thermostat. 3 months after that we went right back to the same problem. The temp sensors simultaneously went out. The changed batteries to new lithium ones. Each time the sensors quit, I spend hours on the phone with support. Each time we do the same things... remove sensors and thermostat, factory resets, keep batteries out of sensors for longer than 10 mins. Remove app from my phone, restart phone, add app back. Last week the " new" sensors went out - which by the way they won't replace, because I'm one week past warranty on original purchase date. (Which although I get is frustrating in itself considering the sensors I have are only 3 months) . I spent 6 hours on the phone doing the same troubleshooting each time. I just bought new sensors last night, installed and they are doing the same thing. SO, the thermostat and the sensors are new and we are in the same situation. Also, by the way... I have a google router and 2 mesh / points with 1.2 gig speed. We are only in 1800 square feet, so 2 mesh points is technically not needed. The speed at the closest mesh is 750 mps and only 8 feet from thermostat. The temp sensors are collectively, 6 feet, 10 feet and 15 feet away from the thermostat. The farthest sensor is in the same room as the mesh point. I have had our electrician test the common wire and we are at 28volts and the battery voltage stays around 3.9 and has not dropped below. At this point the incredibly rude last customer service rep told me that I had exhausted technical support and they had no other options for me, hence the new purchaser of sensors. I'm beyond frustrated minus the fact that I have spent so so so many hours trying to situate this.. I have done everything they've asked and then some. They have known each time these have gone out. This whole thing is frustrating. The new sensors went out 3 hours after installed. They came back on, and are "online" now but, who knows for how long. Would love insight or suggestions. Owning $100 paper weights isn't my idea of a good time. I honestly wish I would have gone with another system. Thanks All!!

The Nest Temperature Sensors use a Bluetooth signal with a maximum 50 ft distance to connect to the thermostat. This signal is affected by many things since it uses the same 2.4Ghz frequency as your Wifi but with a much lower signal level.
Walls, cordless phones, proximity to other wifi/Bluetooth devices, etc can all affect the distance that the sensors can be placed from the thermostat.

Hi folks,
@Patrick_Caezza, thanks for the help!
@Nix, how's it going with your Nest Sensors? Still need our help?
Thanks,
Edward

Hey!
It's definitely still an issue. I understand how wifi / 2.4Ghz works. I appreciate the above response but, all the things listed are not part of the problem. I have moved the new sensors even closer than they were - with literally the only thing in their way is a door, when it is closed... the space between is the thermostat and sensors is now 4 feet for two and 12 feet for the other. Google says if it was one going offline and constantly trying to find the thermostat, then, we'd have a clearer picture of the issue. Because, it is all 3 simultaneously (consistently 3 months in) and the batteries should not be dead at that point, they have exhausted all their solutions. The new sensors I bought last week kept going offline. I took the batteries out longer than 10 mins. Reset network settings. Deleted the thermostat from my nest account. Deleted the app. Reinstalled the app. Put batteries back in. Added thermostat. Added sensors. They went offline several hours later. Most of the time (with all of the sensors) they come back on. It's just that they go back off every 3 hours. I have at this point turned off the notifications for nest because the alerts every 3 hours just makes me so frustrated 😂. I honestly am fairly tech savvy and can figure things out usually. This issue though is extra frustrating because if google can't figure it out I have no idea what else to do.
thanks guys!

Hey Edward,
So, I have several because I have called google every 3 months for over a year. The latest is 7-5155000032795. I have written an email to google headquarters/corporate to file a complaint (lack of better terms) about the whole situation but, most importantly about my interaction with 2 of the last few reps I spoke to. It was honestly shocking what they said to me and I do not believe would be okay with anyone at google. I'm honestly so frustrated and exhausted trying to situate this. Would be happy to speak to you or anyone you can send my way about this whole circumstance.
Thanks, Edward!
